Strong community spirit drives local builder to business milestone
January 1, 2024
Sunshine Coast based Vantage Building Group has marked its 25th anniversary in business with the local builder and developer reaffirming its commitment to supporting the community.
Vantage was born from humble beginnings in 1999 when director Shane O’Brien moved on from his career as a supervisor to commence a business which would have a lasting legacy on the South East Queensland property market.
With its head office located in Maroochydore, the Vantage brand covers residential, commercial and industrial construction and boasts more than 70 full time staff and multiple industry awards for excellence and innovation.
Shane said it has been an honour to be able to operate a business which has evolved so much over the past 25 years.
“We have completed some incredible homes, apartments, townhouses and commercial buildings across South East Queensland over the years and it would not be possible without our incredible staff and a host of quality suppliers and contractors. We also thank our customers and partners who have backed us in so many of our projects,” Shane said.
Marketing Manager Tamara Ellis said Vantage has built a strong reputation for its strong commitment to the local community which includes supporting the establishment of Brothers’ Rugby on the Sunshine Coast as well as a 10 year tenure as the major sponsor of the Sunshine Coast Falcons Rugby League team.
“We love being part of the community and our staff have played an important role in determining what type of activities we support as a business. As well as the Falcons, Falcons Footy Kidz, SC Lightning and Brothers we have also sponsored numerous bursaries at UniSC. We also secured $5 million in Federal Government funding for the hugely successful Sunshine Coast Community and Sports Club at Bokarina.
“Our commitment to the community will continue this year and we are currently planning 25 major activities so we can celebrate this milestone over the next 12 months as our way of thanking our current and past clients, suppliers and staff who have been instrumental in ensuring we are in the strong position we are today,” Tamara said.
Sunshine Coast Falcons CEO Chris Flannery said he wasn’t sure where the club would be today without the decade long support of Vantage.
“Shane and the Vantage team came on board to support us during our darkest hours and their commitment from day one reflects their strong values as a business. Shane is also an important member of the Falcons Board so his commitment is not just financial, he is truly invested in our club. The Falcons have now grown to become a feeder team to NRL club the Melbourne Storm and we narrowly missed out on a grand final win in 2017, that level of improvement would not be possible without the business and financial support of Vantage.” Chris said.
Shane said the Vantage team anticipates a strong year ahead with major residential and commercial projects underway across the Sunshine Coast as well as northern Brisbane suburbs including Caboolture South, Moreton Bay and Carseldine Village.
“We are in a solid position having weathered the effects of Covid-19 and recent labor and supply issues and with a ten year runway to the 2032 Olympic Games we are confident that we can build on our success,” Shane said.
